About Wesleyan College

Wesleyan draws a wonderfully eclectic mix of women – about 700 in all – from across the United States and more than twenty countries, bringing to campus a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities. Wesleyan students choose to study here because they want to test their limits. The bar is set high because our students demand it. First for Women isn’t just a claim to fame - it’s a philosophy that explains why Wesleyan women continue to make history today.

Board of Trustees Adopt New Strategic Plan and Approve Campus Improvement Projects

June 19, 2018

Wesleyan's board of trustees met in May and approved a new mission statement and an aggressive three-year strategic plan that renews the College’s commitment to the undergraduate education of women and the graduate education of women and men. With this commitment Wesleyan will work to strengthen the College’s future through increased student recruiting and retention and through fiscal sustainability.

The strategic plan is the culmination of more than ten months of deliberations by an eleven-member steering committee consisting of faculty, staff, and students, and led by Provost and Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs Melody Blake. Several workshops were held throughout the academic year to gather input from the entire Wesleyan community. The board also held a special workshop in February with presentations from the Hanover Institute and M&R Marketing that focused on future priorities and goals. The full strategic plan is available on Wesleyan's website here: wesleyancollege.edu/about/strategicplan

Trustees also approved several improvements to the campus infrastructure to begin immediately including upgrades to the hallways and study parlors in Wortham, Persons, and Hightower residence halls, installing a new electronic key card entry in all residence halls and Mathews Athletic Center, refurbishing Corn Apartments' porches, and renovating the soccer field.
