About Wesleyan College

Wesleyan draws a wonderfully eclectic mix of women – about 700 in all – from across the United States and more than twenty countries, bringing to campus a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities. Wesleyan students choose to study here because they want to test their limits. The bar is set high because our students demand it. First for Women isn’t just a claim to fame - it’s a philosophy that explains why Wesleyan women continue to make history today.

Wesleyan's Vision 20:20

July 25, 2017

“New” is a word we’re using frequently at Wesleyan these days.

This fall we are offering a new degree – a bachelor of fine arts, a new major – sport management, and four new minors – sport management, equine-assisted therapy, organizational behavior, and forensic science. We also have three new coaches and a new athletic trainer. In addition, our new chaplain begins on August 1st. We also welcome a new chairman of our Board of Trustees, Mr. Andy Nations, and a newly invigorated Alumnae Board of Managers.

On July 1st we welcomed a new provost, Dr. Melody Blake, a new VP for enrollment, Mr. Clint Hobbs, and a new dean of students, Ms. Christy Henry, who join other members of the President’s Cabinet. Several other campus leaders will serve on the new President’s Advisory Council and meet with the Cabinet once a month.

On July 13th, the Cabinet had a day-long planning retreat to develop new strategies to address immediate issues and map out our plan for a year-long strategic planning process. We will be launching our strategic planning process this Fall with an opening session on Thursday, August 10. All members of our faculty and staff will attend this important opening session. We are eager to engage students, faculty, staff, alumnae, trustees, and the community in identifying several key initiatives to focus on during the next few years: Vision 20:20.

Developing this plan will be a group effort – it is the College’s plan, but as Wesleyan’s president, it is my responsibility to make sure it is executed successfully. The plan will create strategies for growth in enrollment, adding new programs, and increasing the visibility of the college. The purpose is clear and singular: to provide a world-class academic program for our students so they will emerge from undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs with the confidence, skills, and academic preparation to accomplish their goals.

I invite you to join us on this strategic planning journey. It is important that we hear from the many voices of Wesleyan. Incorporating diverse ideas into the College's vision for moving forward can only help us grow and improve. If you have any questions or suggestions please contact me at president@wesleyancollege.edu.

Hail Wesleyan!
