Brand New Addition to Student Affairs

On January 9th, Wesleyan welcomed Dionne George to the office of student affairs as director of residence life. Most recently George served as senior assistant director of financial aid at the University of Missouri. She also has extensive experience working closely with students in a residence life capacity. George says she was attracted to Wesleyan because of its small campus and intimate environment. "I enjoy working in a close, family-oriented, student-centered campus community."

George earned her bachelor of science degree in exercise science from Auburn University and a masters of education degree from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. "Because Auburn University was such a large campus, my primary interactions were with other undergraduate members of my athletic team. That changed when I tore my ACL and members of my residence hall, including a resident advisor, stopped by to check on me and brought me flowers, and a card signed by my floor mates. Having those individuals show that they cared about my well-being opened the door for me to get to know students outside of athletics, which greatly enriched my college experience."

George is looking forward to enriching the college experience for Wesleyan students by forging new relationships and letting the students know that she is available to them. Her office will be located on the second floor of the Olive Swann Porter Building along with other student affairs offices.

About Wesleyan College

Wesleyan draws a wonderfully eclectic mix of women – about 700 in all – from across the United States and more than twenty countries, bringing to campus a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities. Wesleyan students choose to study here because they want to test their limits. The bar is set high because our students demand it. First for Women isn’t just a claim to fame - it’s a philosophy that explains why Wesleyan women continue to make history today.
